Although we primarily tin our inventory for re-sale, we take customer tinning projects on a limited basis.  Here are the rules of engagement:

Send us an email.

Please reach out to joe@batterbyhouse.com with your tinning requests.  Kindly include a couple pictures of each piece as well as any important information regarding the pots and pans.  Joe will let you know: (a) whether your piece is a good candidate for tinning at Batterby House; and (b) what the calendar looks like for completion. Please don’t stop by the store with your copper cookware, Joe isn’t always in or available to give on the spot quotes.

Please be patient.

This work is being done by only one person.  As amazing as Joe is (and he is obviously very amazing, indeed) he can only work on so many projects at a time.  It’s unlikely that we will be able to accommodate rush jobs.

Respect the cost.

Tinning is a work-intensive process and the general cost for tinning/polishing is between $100-$300 per pot or pan.  Could you, instead, purchase a brand new pan for that kind of money?  Absolutely.  But we love the way a copper pan looks just after a fresh tinning - using the old hand-wiping method developed in France ensures that each gleaming pan bears the faint tell-tale streaks that describe the final swipe of the tinner.  This is the real deal and your pan will be ready to use for another ten years or more.

What if I’m not local to the Hudson Valley?

That’s not a problem at all. We are happy to ship your pots back to you at our expense, all we ask is you cover the cost of getting the pots to us.

Ready to have your copper tinned?

Great! Just send Joe an email, if you dare.

(he's very excited about copper…some might say too excited?)
